thomas n. burg - on social media and its benefits for us, and sometimes gossip.

October 13th, 2004

Tomorrow I’m leaving for London. I will moderate a discussion and brainstorming meeting as coordinator of the virtual community workpackage of the RUISNET project. This project is about weaving the net of cooperations between research institutions and firms on an European and regional scale. The project will have two faces one is the internal collaborative workspace the other the portal for the target groups. I’m curious about the meeting but not happy to get up at 5 am tomorrow.

As already mentioned my next stop (leaving London at 5 am on Friday) is then the University of Innsbruck where I’m going to start a course on Social Software. I’ve heard that some 80 students wanted to enlist but I had to restrict access to just 20 of them. I will think about increasing the numbers for then next time if I will be invited again.

Today was the first direct contact with those participant from the other project (technologyLog) I mentionend earlier. It was though! The next step will take place around the end of the month. Again a project about the implementation of innovative ways of creating and consuming information and finally knowledge. It’s between distinct organisatons - tough as already mentioned. More later.
