Welcome to 20[05] the year Austria celebrates and commemorates what happened 60, 50, 10 years ago. There is of course an official initiative and website on Austria 2005.
Well, I fear that it will be a mostly political event that will be made
operational for the government and the leading party. Writing that, 05 remembers me of the Austrian resistance during WWII: 0 stands for O like in Oslo and 5 stands for E in
the alphabet [OE stands for Österreich(=Austria), of course]. Might be a
coincidence but I wonder how the 05 would commemorate or celebrate the
year 1955.
PS: besides I hope someone can prevent the “bomb raid over Vienna
night” that is planned by the Austrian government for the night of
March 12, 05. It’s ridiculous and embarrassing and has more in common
with “panem et circenses” than with thinking about history. Also check this place.
