There are six phases in an innovation process that tries to win a market, the most important is the one that tries to satisfy a niche. Starting from that niche and satisfied users market penetration can enfold. An example for that might be the DMS Documentum that was in the beginning focused on the pharmaceutical industry. Documentum was used be 80% of the industry within one year. Now it’s serving a lot of industries as an enterprise content management solution. (more)
