thomas n. burg - on social media and its benefits for us, and sometimes gossip.

What does this all mean for corporate settings? What is disrupted “with features of digital architecture”? Since leaving the university and founding a firm that offers services and advice to the “real world” I try to conceptualize what the last 5 years of digital evolution offer to a standard enterprise or organization.

I have to admit - after, well 8 months - that there are - of course - several discourses going on at the same time. Different public ( )s one might claim. The notion of super publics is almost impossible to imagine for a corporate environment. Talking to an EVN ( ) AG manager only recently cleared the terminological sky. To burn the discourse down into a simple statement: our business model relies on the idea of one or at least a very few publics while admitting that this is fiction and reality is of a different kind this and other firms create those unified visions of reality. Seldom have we been so disjointed.

Yet there is hope! The very moment - and this is disruptive for the second time - networks cross the border of distinctive economics ( ) we will realize that something has changed fundamentally. And this something is the publics of the networks of collaboration.

super publics: “In talking about ’super publics ( ),’ I want to get at the altered state of publics - what publics look like when they are infused with the features of digital architectures. What does it mean to speak across time and space to an unknown audience?”
