thomas n. burg - on social media and its benefits for us, and sometimes gossip.

and things can change quickly. I’m back at permalink (actually never left it) since my partner could never agree on my leave and we were not able to sign the contracts.

Strange feeling to be back and to collect all those loose ends that were left. Not always the good ones. I’m talking about the Verein (association, club).

And of course there is still the firm. Need to see how we can manage that issue.

Now: I need to reformulate my vision and the permalink’s. We have a product but still I think there is more than just one product: there is a goal that relates to the vision.

How - for instance - about open sourcing NEXTspace …

Lots of things to think about. I’ll keep you updated.

[Update:] no one knows how things change these days.

NEXTspace sounds very interesting. That it is built on top of Helma is quite interesting. Open sourcing the project should be encouraged, perhaps with the same BSD license as Helma, or with an LGPL license that requires returning bug fixes to the public.

The Twoday software from Knallgrau is Open Source and there is just one external developer on Sourceforge. It’s more a replacement for Antville and not the ultimative social software thing, like NEXTspace. I know just a few Helma-developers, most of them are from Austria. Are they enough for an active community? It would be nice to have a Open Source NEXTspace, but I don’t think that it will be as successful as some other PHP-Social Software stuff is today (Helma is not popular).
