IBM (t d f) developed Dogear (t d f) – an enterprise social bookmarking application – and came up with a first evaluation last November.
Social Bookmarking in the Enterprise: “One of the primary benefits of an enterprise social bookmarking application
is that it is an explicit assessment of the utility or value of various Internet
and intranet information resources.”
What stroke me was not the positive feedback in their internal blogs – which is great of course – but that they don’t integrate bookmarking into their blog-tools in order to compliment the knowledge and socializing activities.
Although the short study came up with the following reasoning what to do with those gathered and filtered bookmarks and tags.
- integration with Intranet-search results
- integration with corporate white-pages
- integration in project and teamspace
The paper closes with an explanation why and how the made use of REST architecture in favor of extensibility and reuse of data.
Well – and now a product placement – with NEXTspace (t d f) you can do all of that out of the box
