Only 2 months ago I participated in an internal kind of marketing workshop at ONE, the Austrian mobile carrier. It was about developing future user/customer scenarios. At some point I was arguing - I’m a heavy traveller - that video messaging or even video calls are relevant to stay in touch with your social networks especially with your family. Video Messaging To Hit $10 Billion In 2012: Report: “
ABI Research has predicted that mobile video messaging will grow at an annual compound growth rate of nearly 60 percent, to hit $10 billion in 2012. Back in August it predicted that video messaging, video calling and video sharing would be a $17 billion business by 2012. It’s a pretty high growth rate prediction, and unsurprisingly ABI expects the industrialized parts of the world with the highest concentration of video-capable handsets to see the greatest uptake, but said other countries where social network sites are popular could also see a boom.
