Tom Raftery is posing the question about the use of Twitter or better he is clarifying why Twitter helps him to have a better (more productive and fun) live
I’d like to second and emphasize Tom’s conclusion’s below. Only recently I was wondering myself about the use of that new tool and publishing format (my boss and fellows are still doing that).
Blame it on the Twitter!: “And because of the still early nature of the application, it is possible to very quickly build up a powerful network of highly influential users who are only too happy to converse with you. I have met several people recently who, up until now I only knew through Twitter.
Another way I use Twitter is I often pose questions to Twitter and get great replies back from highly qualified people in minutes.”
Tom Raftery’s Social Media
Instead of asking to much and to long I started doing it. And only a few days ago - some kind of proof of concept - I found a great Twitter fellow who’ll help out with a project. It was a matter of minutes: Asking on Twitter -> Direct reply -> Direct reply -> switch to Skype -> agreement to do that project -> we are now on Basecamp
Twitter serves as a social pinging service among connected peers. Content comes second. First we make sure we are on the same planet and alive.
BTW: my TwitterID.
