Der nächste amerik. Politiker mit Weblog. Jetzt fehlr nur noch schuessel.blogspot.com oder doch radio.weblogs.com/gusenbauer oder …

Gary Hart has a weblog. Gary Hart Joins the Blogosphere. Former Senator Gary Hart (D-Colo.) has started a blog. He joins former Vermont Governor Howard Dean as a 2004 presidential candidate to embrace this technology. [via politicalwire.com] [Political Parrhesia]

Very interesting. Unlike Dean’s blog (which is maintained by the campaign and not by Governor Dean himself), this blog appears to be written directly by Hart.

Blogs are reaching a remarkable arc: many credit 9/11 as the original push, with this war receiving a considerable amount of attention for the fact that everyone - citizens, journalists, soldiers - seem to be blogging it.

My prediction - the 2004 presidential election will be the next watershed event for blogs. [tins ::: Rick Klau's weblog]

Detecting social networks via email.

Social network analysis has become prominent in the wake of 9/11, and tracking potential terrorists is certainly one of the areas of great interest that is spurring further research, but the same tool can be used to find potential cooperators, to discover who in an organization or community is the real person to go to despite what the org charts say, to nurture online communities among people who may not be aware of their affinities.

Birthday present for Paolo’s blog.

Paolo wanted a macro that would link directly from a term like Paolo Valdemarin to the first hit returned by Google for that term. Here is a macro that will do that. (To install, right click the link and select “Save As” then save it as googlami.txt in your Radio Userland macros folder).

To use it you would use the source view in the post editor and type in:

and it will generate a complete HTML link for that search.  If you want the text for the link to be different to the term, pass a second parameter with the text of the link, e.g.

Consider it a 1st birthday present for your blog :)[Curiouser and curiouser!]
