Dave Pollard about the use of weblogs for business and why they have a hard time being realized and accepted. What I found irritating in this post is that he only talks about outbound blogs, stating that they lack urgency as a raison d’etre in the world of business. He might be right but if blogs are understood as intranet tools and formats the are granted urgency.

This is problematic evidence though not surprising. The moment you publish internally it can leak outwards. Same is true to emails but nonetheless prose is more appealing and thus it’s calculated.

That’s fascinating. An entire issue of the Journal of Computer Mediated Communication is devoted to search engines. Eszter Hargittai is the editor of this volume. She is my leading authority when it comes to the 2nd level digital divide. We should never forget this particularily if we talk about social software
