Does this sound familiar to you? But is there a panacea around? Topic Maps ( ) another shibboleth to get hold of knowledge date back to the year 2000.
They promise to be humble but sufficient to create networks of data and provide findability. Topic maps are not about attributes but about relations therefore supportive of information browsing - a prerequisite of knowledge formation.

Completely forgot about that: I’m invited to speak at about the nature of Tagging ( ) aka social classification as a part of knowledge organization. The organizers brought together almost everybody in Europe who dealt with weblogs and social sofware over the last years. The conference in Salzburg ( ) is aimed at the educational sector but the issues at stake are overall interesting - so if you are close enough be there.
