On Thursday I’m off to Berlin to visit the Charité. I’m very honored to be invited there. It’s the first day in a series. I’m there to talk about Social Software and it’s use in educational settings from a technological and phenomenological point of view.

Asides: I’m still struggling with their Blackboard implementation: I’m not permitted to setup my workshop there – I need to send content related information to an admin: workflows, workflows, and workflows that do not encourage the flow.

Knorr Cetina & Bruegger (2000) The Market as an Object of Attachment: “It holds that this influx of object worlds coincides with changing patterns of human relatedness that can be glossed by the notion postsocial forms. Postsocial ( ) forms include object-relationships where the objects are non-human entities. One characteristic of the present situation is that perhaps for the first time in recent history it appears unclear whether other persons are, for human beings, the most fascinating part of their environment.”

I actually did not understand nor read the entire article but it seems noteworthy that sociologist acknowledge that objects can constitute a relevant part of our sociality ( ) in spite or parallel to an extended individualism.
