Horst just published a new book. He asked me: if you conceive of it of any value then you might post it here. Well, I do:

Messages from the Lost Continent: “Five agents are sent to a mysterious continent on a mission so secret that not even they are told anything about it. Their only link back to headquarters is an encrypted (t d f) e-mail channel through which they receive instructions and report back the results of their investigations. Soon, they find themselves being followed by sinister adversaries who do not hesitate to eliminate them if necessary. As the agents slowly uncover the connections between an 18th century watchmaker (t d f), a number of ancient artefacts and a piece of cutting-edge modern technology, they find themselves in the middle of a massive conspiracy that could destroy the entire planet… This unique and at times hilariously funny blend of thriller, science fiction and fantasy novel was first published as a fiction weblog between June and December 2005.”

What does this all mean for corporate settings? What is disrupted “with features of digital architecture”? Since leaving the university and founding a firm that offers services and advice to the “real world” I try to conceptualize what the last 5 years of digital evolution offer to a standard enterprise or organization.

I have to admit – after, well 8 months – that there are – of course – several discourses going on at the same time. Different public (t d f)s one might claim. The notion of super publics is almost impossible to imagine for a corporate environment. Talking to an EVN (t d f) AG manager only recently cleared the terminological sky. To burn the discourse down into a simple statement: our business model relies on the idea of one or at least a very few publics while admitting that this is fiction and reality is of a different kind this and other firms create those unified visions of reality. Seldom have we been so disjointed.

Yet there is hope! The very moment – and this is disruptive for the second time – networks cross the border of distinctive economics (t d f) we will realize that something has changed fundamentally. And this something is the publics of the networks of collaboration.

super publics: “In talking about ‘super publics (t d f),’ I want to get at the altered state of publics – what publics look like when they are infused with the features of digital architectures. What does it mean to speak across time and space to an unknown audience?”

To all my friends who are deluged with comment spam, here[base ']s a tip: give
up. Like email, the openness of blog comments is a pandora[base ']s box that
cannot be closed. Fighting spam is a war created by the economics of…

Weblogkritik vs. Technorati.

Weblogs sind i.d.R. völlig anders geartet.
