I’d like to second and emphasize Tom’s conclusion’s below. Only recently I was wondering myself about the use of that new tool and publishing format (my boss and fellows are still doing that).

Instead of asking to much and to long I started doing it. And only a few days ago – some kind of proof of concept – I found a great Twitter fellow who’ll help out with a project. It was a matter of minutes: Asking on Twitter -> Direct reply -> Direct reply -> switch to Skype -> agreement to do that project -> we are now on Basecamp

Twitter serves as a social pinging service among connected peers. Content comes second. First we make sure we are on the same planet and alive.
