Burg http://randgaenge.net/2006/03/18/spheres-of-engagement/ Had a meeting with IBM ( ) recently. IBM invests a lot in Open Source Software development. Their somehow delegated developers are not allowed to call home due to a risky intellectual property situation. That involvement sounds generous, however, it seems as if IBMs business modell conceives of OSS ( ) – say Geronimo ( ) – as an entry point to commercial licenses – say WAS ( ). I don’t feel comfortably with that except as a business model for … . But well IBM is not alone almost all major software companies are involved in open source development.

Nonetheless the air is getting thinner for the Webspheres and alike.
