“Collaboration tools for communities of practice”

Add visibility ( ) as a distinctive element of the tools and you’ll see that the opposite of trust is fear. Thus the more visibility is involved the more trust ( ) is needed. That’s a thesis.

Spheres of engagement

Had a meeting with IBM ( ) recently. IBM invests a lot in Open Source Software development. Their somehow delegated developers are not allowed to call home due to a risky intellectual property situation. That involvement sounds generous, however, it seems as if IBMs business modell conceives of OSS ( ) - say Geronimo ( ) - as an entry point to commercial licenses - say WAS ( ).

Goo(gle)sphere

I’m not entirely convinced if that’s really fun for us. Although def. a relevant move form the desktop pc to the web as platform.
I anticipate lots of competitors on a less diffused customer base but only one click away.
Made def. sense for Google ( ) to invest in storage to give away and data-mining to harness the fruits.
[Update:] I think we’ll see java-enabled OpenOffice ( ) via the browser (or/and the Google Toolbar) pretty soon.
